A Time of Plenty-ish

Hammers in the Wind

I have had the good fortune to see many, if not all, of my major goals for life reach fruition. I served twenty years in the army, went to two different wars, and have published close to twenty novels. The concept for Hammers in the Wind came to me late in my military career as I sat in my rather large office at the United States Military Academy. Several of my cadets came in and we often had discussions about writing and my time in Iraq and Afghanistan.

While I couldn’t have known it at the time, Hammers in the Wind slowly took on its own life. I originally designed this to be a two book series. Well, the draft was so long- I do love long sagas- my publisher said, hey man why don’t you cut it in half and give us more. Cut it in half? What are you mad? But I did. The end result isn’t my best ending. Hammers just sort of cuts off while setting the scene for the following books.

Tides of Blood and Steel was born from that mess, as were the following four books. You see, I love the world I created: Malweir. Of course I made this long before the internet took off and the existence of malware. Huh- hindsight right? Anyway, I’ve written nine books in this world and have a few more planned. It’s been a heck of a ride so far. Hammers in the Wind has gotten nearly 300 reviews on Amazon, B&N, and Goodreads, and has been the overall #1 free book on Kindle THREE times in the past year. If that doesn’t take all…

I hope that some of you will take the time to enter my world and enjoy the adventure I began way back in 2002 while I was sitting in a dingy tent in Bagram, Afghanistan listening to rockets going off around the perimeter. My enjoyment comes from your enjoyment. Read on, my friends. Read on.
