Day 8 (+): Dreams of Winter: A Forgotten Gods Tale #1
Where do I even begin with this one? I was with my wife in Philly for the weekend, staying at some fancy hotel that overlooked the museums. Even got to see some of the NY Knick players with their uhhh city girlfriends in the elevator. Aside from the amount of homeless begging for money and sleeping on park benches I was having a blast, Oh there was that cheese that smelled like old feet….
While she was in her meeting, and I had already hit up Holt Cigars downtown, I sat down and came up with the prologue for what was to become my biggest ambition yet. I had already read Steven Erickson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen- or most of them by that point- and it had a major influence on how I wanted to proceed with my craft.
Gone were the elves, dragons, and dwarves. This was some galaxy spanning civil war, bring back the old gods to destroy the universe stuff here. Currently I am about to begin book 5 of what I project to be either 9 or 10 books. Each is between 600-700 pages and written sequentially with the prologues now being used for filler information to provide a little extra backstory for central characters. I hope you enjoy, because this is my real pride and joy.
Dreams of Winter: A Forgotten Gods Tale #1
It is a troubled time, for the old gods are returning and they want the universe back…
Under the rigid guidance of the Conclave, the seven hundred known worlds carve out a new empire with the compassion and wisdom the gods once offered. But a terrible secret, known only to the most powerful, threatens to undo three millennia of progress. The gods are not dead at all. They merely sleep. And they are being hunted.
Senior Inquisitor Tolde Breed is sent to the planet Crimeat to investigate the escape of one of the deadliest beings in the history of the universe: Amongeratix, one of the fabled THREE, sons of the god-king. Tolde arrives on a world where heresy breeds insurrection and war is only a matter of time. Aided by Sister Abigail of the Order of Blood Witches, and a company of Prekhauten Guards, Tolde hurries to find Amongeratix and return him to Conclave custody before he can restart his reign of terror.
What he doesn’t know is that the Three are already operating on Crimeat.
