Book Review: The Thousand Names by Django Wexler

First off, I picked this up on a recommendation from one of the guys at Barnes and Noble. I had eyed the cover a few times but never pulled the trigger. Part of being an author is reading and I have enough books to start a library. I figured why not, I’ll give it a shot and boy was I hooked.

Not the best book I’ve ever read but it was unique, entertaining, and made me want to read more. The Thousand Names is the first of 5 in Wexler’s Shadow Campaign series and a great read. The characters are well fleshed out, diverse, and show progress as the book goes on. Wexler’s world is loosely based on 17th century France, complete with the politics of the day, flintlock weapons, and just enough magic to keep you guessing. The writing style is easy to follow and the book flows- unlike many I have read over the past few years. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. You won’t be disappointed.
