Getting Off The Struggle Bus

Why do we always allow outside influences to determine our actions? For some, it is a welcome distraction from the troubles of the day. For others, it is born from caring too much about a subject that often derails us. I found myself in this situation for the last few weeks as the debacle of Afghanistan unfolded. My heart aches; for my friends, those families left behind or torn apart, and everyone who has lit a candle in the window over the past 20 years.

But there is only so much one can do before rucking back up and moving out. As much as I would love to sneak back over to Afghanistan and help get people out- like many veterans are already doing- I realize my time is over. It’s been a decade since I last wore a uniform. Time and age have conspired against me!

Now that my mind is in a better place I’ve decided its time to abandon the struggle bus and get back on the ball. Books need writing. Books need editing. I need a vacation. Wait….

I have so much upcoming events and news I am bristling with anticipation. Oct sees the release of all six volumes of the Northern Crusade in one ebook AND the second and final volume of Tomorrow’s Demise. Throw in another book festival, a few more comicons and I am feeling the buzz. Did I mention the first Lazarus Men book is being published under Hurn Publications?

The moral of this story is to never let something keep you down. Getting knocked down is part of life. Absorb the blows and get back on your feet. After all, the only way to stop a bully is to stand up to him.
