Why Do We Write?
I get asked this all the time. My answer is perpetually glib, usually along the lines of ‘to get the crazy out of my head’. I do that more for the odd looks than anything else. The truth is, I don’t know. The names, places, and situations fester in the recesses of my mind, begging to be fleshed into existence upon the written page. Stories come to me. Characters are born- and sooooo many die. I’ve killed plenty of people I know (in my books!!!) just because they irritated me, asked me to, or won a contest. I know, right?
One of my biggest selling points at cons is offering anyone who purchases a book the chance to become a character in my next book who meets an untimely demise. Literature immortality! With con season starting up I am ready to hit the open road and meet as many folks as I can. Now that restrictions are lifted and people are free again I’m expecting a banner year.
First up is Wilmington North Carolina in sunny April. Can’t wait for that one. It should be good pregame to get me ready for the bigger cons and events. Maybe I’ll see you there…
In the meantime, there is still time to preorder The Lazarus Men before it goes live on April 1st. Get it while the price is low and grab book two while you’re at it.
See you in the pages.
